What good does fundraising do?

WWF – the World Wide Fund for Nature – is one of the Award charities, and over the years donations of over STG 400 have been made through the Award to this charity.

The Award recently received a supporters’ update from WWF-UK on some of the successes in its work.

These include:

• Working to get 10.3million hectares of Canadian forest  certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) http://www.wwf.org.uk/what_we_do/safeguarding_the_natural_world/forests/responsible_forestry_and_trade

   

• Lobbying for preservation of two of the rarest dolphin species – Mexico’s Vaquita porpoise and New Zealand’s Maui’s dolphin

• Stopping logging in a major forest in Hungary

It is encouraging to get some good news of how our donations can really make a difference on the ground.
