International Global Citizen's Award

encouraging young people to become better global citizens

Hi,  my name is Linzi from Australian International School, Jakarta.  We are new to the award and as we are not an IB school we are undertaking the award on a pretty ad hoc basis with a small group of students, trying it all out and seeing whether o r not we can find a place for it in our school.

We have a small group of students who have come together through mutual interest.  We have connections with a charitable trust and deliver Englich classes, homework help and IT classes to young people from this trust.  This forms part of the community service section for the award.  We are running and environmental group who are just starting out on a photography project highlighting some of hte weaker areas within the school and working towards raising awareness within the student body and creating a change within the school as a result of this.  We are also organising a 'give a day to charity' drive, where the Global award students are promoting and encouraging students to join them on a Saturday, once per term to give time to an organisation in Jakarta.

Any hints and tips would be greatfully received and I am happy to share the results and photos of the projects that we are undertaking.
