Hey guys

 We are very new to the programme here at AIS Balikpapan but thought I would give a quick update as to how things were progressing.  When we started the programme the students brainstormed their ideas about being a global citizen and what they wanted to achieve from being involved in the award programme. We are now meeting once a week, after school, and we alternate between having this meeting at school where we discuss issues, come up with ideas etc and on the alternate week we visit a local orphanage to spend time with the children there. Currently our focus is improving recycling in the school (a major issue here in Balikpapan, Indonesia) and how different cultures perceive beauty - the positives and negatives of cultural identity and pressure. All seems to be going well!  I love seeing the students reflect and look forward to many more interesting meetings in the future.
